also i'll be buying tickets to se the blakc keys at the round house... i discovered that if you turn up at the door and buy tickets direct you don't pay a booking fee, which is odd as it must be the most expensive way for them to sell tickets.

I am coming into the office to submit a planning application I would never expect to buy a booking fee for tickets bought on the door.The staff are there anyway aren't they, the 'booking fee' is just a way for ticket agencies to scam money.
usually the venue staff are therebut they are not the promoter who is hiring the venue, I've been charged for it at normal places before but i think the roundhouse is arts council funded or somethign so are probably less wankerish.

In my experienceThe venue will charge the promoter for running a box office. But this will be taken off the face-value you pay the venue for a ticket, not added to the price as an extra fee for you.
Of course, the promoter could just hike up the ticket price for those sold by the venue.
